Emirates is the world’s largest operator of the A380. The airline currently boasts an incredible 104 aircraft, with a further 58 on order for delivery. With the A380 800’s recent return to Brisbane to operate three daily Emirates services to Dubai, we wanted to find out what passengers can really expect when flying Business Class on the aircraft. So, we took a tour to find out for you, starting with the lounge!
Business Class Lounge (Brisbane Airport)
The Emirates lounge is a well-designed, comfortable space providing several pre-flight facilities, including a business centre, meeting room and complimentary WiFi. Like many other Emirates lounges, it also offers gourmet meals prepared by reputable chefs. For those looking for a bit more, the airline can provide a chauffeur service (when booked 48 hours in advance) for all First and Business Class customers. The lounge also provides direct access to the aircraft, allowing you to avoid the last-minute rush to reach your gate at boarding time.
In addition to the standard 7kg carry on allowance, Business Class travellers on the A380 are entitled to 40kg of checked baggage. However, flights to the Americas and from Africa are entitled to travel with two bags up to 32 kilograms each in First or Business Class. Priority baggage handling and check-in are also available to all Business Class passengers.
The Emirates A380 Business Class offers a spacious seat width of 18.5″ that transforms into a fully reclinable flatbed, operated by a touchscreen. This is especially important on those longer flights where a bit of shut-eye is crucial to arriving at your destination feeling refreshed. Each seat comes with Emirates’ multiple award-winning ice entertainment system on a 15-inch monitor, with access to over 3500 options. Customers interested in a mid-flight snack can also select from one of the in-seat minibar options.
The aircraft is split into two full-length decks (First and Business Class on the upper deck, and Economy on the main deck) with the capacity to carry between 489 – 615 passengers. Business Class is configured in a 1-2-1 formation, offering direct aisle access for all 76 passengers. This is ideal for both solo travellers and couples. The Business Class cabin is separated from First Class to the front and the onboard bar just behind.
The well-designed onboard lounge is admittedly one of the most exciting features of the A380. Open only to First and Business Class passengers, this is a hugely popular addition that allows guests to stretch their legs and socialise in a relaxed environment. Guests can sample a range of gourmet delicacies, fine spirits and wines, handpicked from around the world, or opt for a signature cocktail straight from the bar.
WiFi connectivity is available on all Emirates A380 aircraft. Each customer receives a complimentary 20MB of data with the option to purchase more as needed. Free data is available to select Skywards members travelling in First or Business Class. Each Business Class seat is also equipped with a USB port and charging outlet for all your devices.
Guests can enjoy a range of regionally inspired dishes as part of the Emirates A380 Business Class menu, all served on fine bone china with exclusive cutlery set.
Every Emirates Business Class guest is treated to a Bulgari amenity kit containing a range of fragrance, skincare essentials and Eau Parfumée Au Thé Vert (Green Tea), valued at over $100. This is one of the additional personal touches provided by the airline to ensure that its customers are treated to an unforgettable experience, regardless of their fare brand.
Emirates flies the A380 to 49 destinations worldwide from its hub in Dubai. In addition to Brisbane, other Australia and New Zealand-bound travellers can also experience the full A380 experience on selected services to Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Christchurch (through Sydney). As the airline continues to grow and invest in its product offering we can expect to see more benefits realised for passengers.
