Corporate Travel 2016 AU & NZ Round Up

Laura End of Year2016… been and gone in the blink of an eye! In a world where connectivity and productivity continue to progress at lightning speed, I find these opportunities of reflection increasingly more important in truly recognising and digesting the achievements of the past 12 months.

Firstly, I wish to thank every individual who has contributed positively to CTM’s growth journey in 2016; to our clients for their ongoing commitment and support, and for presenting us with opportunities that continue to challenge and inspire us to be better; to our employees for their energy and enthusiasm and their infinite willingness to learn, achieve and deliver above and beyond, year upon year; to our supplier partners for their commitment to delivering  exceptional outcomes for our clients and the corporate travel industry in general; to our Board for their expertise in steering CTM’s growth strategy to new heights; and to our shareholders for their continued belief in our business philosophy and model.

Awards AUI am fiercely proud of the achievements of our talented employees across Australia & New Zealand who have delivered another fantastic result in our Annual Client Survey and our All Stars Employee Awards, as well as their contribution to CTM being acknowledged by AFTA as Australia’s Best National Travel Management Company for the tenth time. Their continued commitment to delivering value, service excellence and innovation to their clients and counterparts year upon year sets the foundations upon which this company continues to thrive. I wish to thank every employee for their valued contribution to making CTM a company which people truly value working with, and for.

A special mention must be made of a few CTM employees who have been acknowledged by the travel industry and their respective professional disciplines for their exceptional achievements in 2016. Our Sydney-based NSW Operations Manager, Cherie Drummond won both the AFTA award for Best Agency Manager (Corporate – Single Location) and the Travel Weekly Women in Travel Awards (Corporate category), and CTM’s Andre Moten, who took out the AFTA award for Best Agency Manager (Corporate – Multi Location). Our Global CTO Tom Clark has been recognised amongst Australia’s top technology leaders in the CIO50 list. Tom and his CTM SMART Technology team have worked tirelessly to develop and deliver a range of game-changing corporate travel tools to the Australian and New Zealand markets this year; Lightning – the next generation of corporate online booking tools where the user sits front and centre of the booking experience; CTM Mobile – Australia and New Zealand’s first locally developed end-to-end corporate mobile booking application enabling flight, hotel and car bookings within travel policy and while on the move; and many more enhancements to our other SMART Technology travel tools. Developed just three years ago with a team of two staff, CTM’s Sydney-based SMART Technology Hub is now home to 50+ leading technologists developing customised travel solutions for domestic and global implementation.

Innovation is truly in CTM’s DNA. We proudly invest in the resources and tools to drive service-centric solutions which empower both employees and clients. This year, CTM ranked in the AFR’s Most Innovative Companies List for the second consecutive year.

Our events business, Event Travel Management (ETM), continues to grow from strength to strength, having won the AFTA award for Best Business Events Agency in 2016 – for the fifth time. I’m thrilled that the business’s General Manager, Tracey Edwards, has grasped the opportunity of taking the ETM business model global in 2017 – we are excited about the opportunities this presents both Tracey and her talented team of events specialists across the globe, and our event clients.

Our employees’ continued commitment to delivering value, service excellence and innovation to their clients and counterparts year upon year sets the foundations upon which this company continues to thrive.

Our New Zealand team enjoyed an office relocation earlier this year to the thriving Newmarket region of Auckland, as well as delivering the Lightning online booking tool to clients in the NZ market. The team continue to grow their business through the delivery of exceptional service, flexible cost saving solutions and innovative technologies which drive ROI to clients the length and breadth of the country.

Looking ahead to 2017, we are excited to welcome a new extension to the CTM family in Australia, with the acquisition of Tasmanian travel management company, Andrew Jones Travel. A long-standing and well regarded corporate travel company, Andrew Jones Travel provides specialisation in national sporting bodies and government departments, and a location in a valuable region for aquaculture and export. We’re confident their talented team will be a valuable and complimentary addition to CTM’s Australian footprint.
