Air New Zealand and Qantas announce codeshare

Air New Zealand and Qantas have recently announced a codeshare agreement across 115 domestic routes in New Zealand and Australia. Under the new agreement travellers can look forward to faster connections between flights with easier coordination of check-in and handling at airports. Eligible customers will have access to a combined total of 36 domestic lounges on both sides of the Tasman when flying on routes covered by the codeshare agreement. Tickets for the codeshare services will be available by the end of July 2018, for travel from 28 October 2018.

SQ’s A350-900 to ChristchurchSQ’s A350-900 to Christchurch

Singapore Airlines has announced that its new A350-900 aircraft will be deployed on the Christchurch-Singapore route from 7 January 2019. The aircraft features SQ’s latest cabin product including Premium Economy class, which offers a generous seat recline, noise-cancelling headphones and champagne throughout the 10-hour flight.

Air New Zealand has been working on a new business class seat and is expected to be launched on the airline’s non-stop flights to New York on the Boeing 777X and Airbus A350 from 2022. It will also appear in the Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet in a refurbishment of the aircraft.

Auckland to Chicago AIR NZAir New Zealand direct to Chicago

From November 2018 Air New Zealand will begin a direct service between Auckland and Chicago. The service will be offered thrice weekly on a Boeing 787-9 and will be approximately 15 hours north bound and roughly 16 hours south bound.

Accor acquires MantraAccor reaches agreement for Mantra acquisition

AccorHotels has finally reached an agreement to acquire Mantra Group in a deal that has taken 12 months to complete. The $1.2 billion acquisition of Mantra’s 138 hotels across the Asia Pacific will underpin Accor’s long-term growth strategy, bringing their portfolio to over 900 hotels in the region. As of Friday 1 June, Mantra shares have been delisted from the ASX.

 

Oaks WellingtonOaks Hotel set to open hotel in Wellington

Due to open to open its doors in 2019, Oaks Wellington will be located on Courtenay Place in the CBD. The former Colonial Motor Company Building site will be transformed into the hotel which will have 226 hotel rooms and one-bedroom apartments featuring Smart TVs, keyless entry and high-speed Wi-Fi. The hotel will have a first-floor restaurant and bar, a gymnasium, ground floor communal lounge, conferencing venues and underground parking.

The Gold Coast’s new $550m Queen Street Village precinct will include a four-star Mercure hotel with 160 rooms, conference facilities and a rooftop bar. The Southport project is located on the old Gold Coast Hospital site.

 

Peppers SiloLaunceston’s iconic new Peppers Silo Hotel officially opens its doors

The iconic new Peppers Silo Hotel in Launceston officially opened on Saturday 2 June. Embracing the historical Kings Wharf grain silos that were originally erected in 1960, the hotel offers 108 guest rooms – 52 of which are inside the renovated silo barrels. The redevelopment of the site also includes undercover car parking, conference facilities for up to 500 people, and an onsite restaurant and bar called Grain of the Silos.

 

Adina South YarraAdina South Yarra – closing down 31 July 2018

After 20 years of management of Adina Apartment Hotel South Yarra, TFE Hotels will close the doors on 31 July 2018. Guests seeking accommodation nearby have a range of Adina Apartment Hotels to choose from in Melbourne’s CBD and St Kilda. The centrally located Adina Apartment Hotel Melbourne on Queen Street features 11 beautifully refurbished penthouses with panoramic views of the city. The closure comes in consultation with the owners of the hotel to not renew the lease.

Hyatt has announced plans for a Hyatt Place hotel in Springvale, Melbourne. The 200-room Hyatt Place Springvale with be located on the corner of Springvale and Dandenong Roads in the Monash academic and business district. It is due to open in 2020.
